He came to Canada in April 1857, where he was united in marriage to Maryam Sunley, in Guelph, in 1861. Seven children were born to this union. Ada Calkins, of Belding, Joslin W. Green, of Chesley, Ontario; Reginald N. Green, Rachel E. Green, of Belding; Maggie A. Waldron, of Alberta, Canada; Charles J. Green of South Hampton, Ontario; and Joseph T. Green. Reginald N. passed away August 28th, 1905; Joseph T. passed away March 17th, 1900 and Maryam, his wife, passed away February 14th, 1901. Since the loss of his wife, he has resided with his daughters in Belding. He leaves to mourn his loss, three daughters, two sons and five grandchildren. He was a member of the Church of England, until his removal from there and afterwards united with the same church in Canada. He was stricken with paralysis, Saturday, August 2nd, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ada Calkins, where he has lived for several years and where he passed away. We marked the patience with which he bore his last sad hours of pain. And though our hearts seem breaking now, we could not wish him back again. Oh no, we could not, would not, ask Thee, Lord to give him back again.
