At the time of the accident the lad was trying to tie the rope of the swing to a rafter 12 feet from the floor. He was alone at the time and it is supposed he slipped, striking the floor in such manner as to break his neck. He was found by his sister Florence with whom he had been playing earlier in the morning and who discovered the body of her brother when she went to call him to dinner. A physician from Muir was called at once but the boy was dead, the doctor expressing his belief that death was instantaneous. He was a member of the Union Sunday school at Collins, and was a sixth grade pupil in the Crane school. He is survived by his parents, his sister and an older brother, Richard. Funeral services were held from the home of his parents Tuesday afternoon. Rev. A.T. Halstead, of Lyons officiated. [Transcriber's Note: There is a notation on the obituary card that he was buried in Highland Park Cemetery.] File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/g/green9042gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/mifiles/ File size: 1.8 Kb
