Greenhoe, 77, former Ionia businessman who has lived the past few years in Lyons died Saturday, January 31, at 1:30 p.m. at the Hawley Convalescent Home in Muir where he had been a patient for two years. He was born January 20, 1876, in Ronald township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry S. Greenhoe. In 1895 he was married to Carrie Farrer of Muir. She died in 1924. He was in business on Ionia’s Main street for 30 years, both in the meat market and later the meat and grocery business. For a number of years, with George L. Collier, he operated the market of Collier and Greenhoe on West Main street. Later he became interested with Ora L. Decker in the grocery and meat firm of Decker and Greenhoe, and until about 10 years ago conducted his own market at 412 West Main street as the Greenhoe market. Greenhoe was a life member of the Elk lodge having belonged for 42 years. Sole survivor is a sister, Mrs. Henry King, of Lansing. Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Stone-Kauffman funeral home. The Rev. Court O. Adams will officiate. Entombment will be in the Highland park mausoleum. Subsequent Publication: Wednesday, February 4, 1953 Services for Clarence A. Greenhoe were held Tuesday at the Stone-Kauffman funeral home by the Rev. Court O. Adams. Greenhoe, a former Ionia merchant died at Muir Saturday. Nels Strand, Lawrence Witzel, Arthur Lind and Reber Grover were bearers. Entombment was in the Highland Park Mausoleum. Attending the services from away were Mr. and Mrs. Henry King of Lansing, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Greenhoe of Flint, and Mrs. Nettie Greenhoe of Muir.
