DOD: 24 February 1914 Sheldon C. Greenman was born in Lincoln County, Ontario, Oct. 10, 1824 and departed this life in Sebewa, Ionia County, Feb. 24, 1914, aged 89 years, 4 months and 14 days. On March 10, 1846, he was united in marriage to Lydia A. VanDusen and to this union were born eight children – four daughters and four sons: Sheldon C. died in infancy, Claud C. at five years of age; John dying about 17 years ago, and Mrs. Melissa Foster and Mrs. Lydia Stewart having died in the recent past. He was converted at the age of 16 years and has been an earnest Christian about 73 years. He had served his church as class leader, S. S. superintendant and has held a quarterly conference license to preach the Gospel for 30 years or more. He has been an upright man, a good husband, a consistent Christian and a faithful friend. In dying he leaves to mourn their loss, an aged wife, two daughters, Mrs. J. Stambaugh and Mrs. Martha Stewart, and one son George, 17 grand children, 23 great grandchildren. The funeral services were held at the Halladay church conducted by Rev. C. D. Jarvis assisted by Rev. Halsey and Rev. E. Wheeler. Interment in the Sebewa cemetery in charge of Mr. H. Mapes.
