Deceased was born near Belfast, Ireland, June 22, 1861, and departed this life Feb. 23, 1912, aged 50 years, 8 months and 1 day. Funeral services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Brown, of this village, Sunday, Rev. Wilkinson of Ionia Episcopal church officiating. Interment in Lyons cemetery. Mr. Greer came to America when about 19 years of age, coming almost direct to Lyons, where he has made his home ever since. He boarded with Mr. and Mrs. A. Hodgson for 13 years coming from there to Lyons where he has made his home with Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Brown for the last 16 years. He worked at the stone quarry about 25 years. Though he was a single man, with no known relatives, he had gathered around him a host of friends, who respected him for what he was – A man in every sense of the word.
