After her father died when she was 13, she helped support the family by working for a cousin who owned a bakery, delivering bread on foot. She was just a teenager at the start of the Nazi occupation of France during WWII. At 23, she came to Michigan in the spring of 1946 as a war bride of Roswell Ghastin and lived in Benzie County for many years where she learned English and became a practical nurse at the Frankfort Hospital working for her friend and mentor Ena Jackson. This is when and where she changed her name to Myriam. After their divorce, she met (over Ham-Radio) and then married Glenn W.Gregg in Sault Ste.Marie, MI on Jan. 21, 1956. There they had 4 children, George, Phillip, Glenna, and Annette. They made their home in the Soo for many years. Myriam was kind to her older neighbors and looked in on them and helped them when they were ill. She also loved to knit, crochet, and tat. She knitted many sets of booties, mittens, and hats for Eight-Can over the years until a broken wrist made it too difficult. She was in relatively good health until about 3 years ago and was known to walk the mile or so to town and then back again even into her 90's.She was a member of T.A.S.Y.L's, an amateur radio club, for 55 years and had her Ham ±Radio license for over 60 years.
