Feb. 12, 2013 Lawrence T. Gregory of Ionia died Feb. 7, 2013. Larry was born Dec. 5, 1933 near Portland, Mich., to Donald and Marion Jones Gregory. He attended Gibbs School and was a 1951 graduate of Ionia High School. He was a six-year U.S. Army veteran, having been stationed at 7th Army Headquarters in Germany. Larry was in the restaurant business in Ionia and Lake Odessa for many years. He was a member of many local civic and fraternal organizations and a member of LeValley United Methodist Church. Larry was married to Carol A. Swanson on March 8, 1953, who survives. Also surviving are four children; Judi Kay (Dan) DeMartin of Mason, Kathleen (Robert) Cecil of Raywick, Ky., Arthur D. (Cara) Gregory of Grand Rapids, and Lori Sue (Edwin) Danks of Hastings; 16 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings; Russell Gregory of Grand Rapids, Carol Jean (Steve) Price of Lake Odessa, Jerome (Judy) Gregory of Ionia, Norma (Bob) Mulder of Lakeview, Perry (Margaret) Gregory of Ionia, Richard Gregory of Stanton; step sister, Janet (Larry) Listerman of Ionia, brothers-in-law Conrad (Joanie) Swanson and Ronald Martens; cousins Robert (Diana) Jones and Ruth Gochnour; many nieces and nephews; and a countless number of friends. He was preceded in death by his step mother Mary Gregory, sister, Lois Martens, granddaughter Brooke Miller, son-in-law Terry Miller, son-in-law John Stowell, and sister-in-law Marilyn Gregory. AS he wished, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at Steele Street Hall, 115 S. Steele St. in Ionia, from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12. For those who wish to honor his memory, contributions may be made to the Gregory Family Endowment Scholarship Fund at the celebration of life or in care of Jerry Gregory, 3630 S.
