Oct. 9, 2012 James Anthony Greiner, 53, of Grand Rapids passed away after a short battle with cancer, Oct. 6, 2012 in Grand Rapids. He was born Sept. 13, 1959 in Ionia, the son of Percy and Eileen (Allen) Greiner. He graduated from Saranac High School class of 1977. James went on to earn his BA from Aquinas College in 1981. He was employed at Novo 1 in Holland, and he attended St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Saranac. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and godfather. James is survived by his brothers and sisters, Mary Greiner of North Carolina, Joseph (Sue) Greiner of New Buffalo, Kathleen Greiner of Grand Rapids, Jerome Greiner of Kentucky, Patricia Bailey of Grand Rapids and Nancy (Tim) Cahoon of Southfield; nephews and nieces, Angela VanderHulst of Grand Rapids, Christian (Erin) Grainer of Chicago, Claire (Jonathan) Max-Somer of Maryland, Adrienne (Billy) Stathan of Kentucky, Alex (Farrah) Greiner of Kentucky, Jessie Cahoon of Southfield, Patrick Cahoon of Southfield and Steph Cahoon of Southfield; and five grand-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Saranac with Father Tom Boufford Celebrant. Interment Saranac Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Thursday until time of service at the church.
