"Ted" Griebel, 87, of Belding, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at Spectrum Health United Memorial United Campus in Greenville. Ted was born on February 20, 1919, in Saginaw the son of George and Alvina Griebel. Ted proudly served his country during World War II in the US Army. He and his family moved from Saginaw to the Belding area in 1969. He attended Holy Cross Lutheran Church, was a past member of the Farm Bureau, AARP, VFW Post 4406 of Belding, and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was married in 1946 to Julia Kish and she preceded him in 1981, Ted was also preceded by his parents and 5 brothers, Ernie, Paul, Walter, Arthur, and Norman. He is survived by his children, Janet Griffore of Whittemore, Michigan, George Griebel of Ionia, and David and Debra Griebel, of Belding. Ted is also survived by his grandchildren, Lea, Joe, Rachael, Julie, Lisa, and Heather, and his great grandchildren, Kevin, Marissa, and one more on the way! Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Johnson Feuerstein Funeral Home Belding with Pastor Joseph Fremer of Holy Cross Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in Orleans Township Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contribution may be given to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or the Alvah N. Belding Library.
