Grieve, 65, retired school teacher, died Monday at Ionia County Memorial hospital after an illness of eight months. Born in Berlin township April 5, 1900, she was graduated from Clarksville high school, Central Michigan university and did graduate work at Eastern Michigan university at Ypsilanti. She was in the teaching profession 44 years and taught in Lyons, Holland, Flushing, Ionia and the last 18 years in Bay City where she retired in June 1964. For the past 15 years she made her home with her father, J. Wesley Grieve of North State road and prior to her death, resided in Portland seven months. She was preceded in death by her mother. Myrtie Rogers Grieve. Miss Grieve was a member of the Baptist church, Michigan Education association, National Education association and MEHA of Ann Arbor. She is survived by her father, J. Wesley who now resides in St. Johns, also a sister, Mrs. Ruby Curtis of Portland; a brother, Kenneth of St. Johns, and seven nieces and nephews. A memorial for cancer research has been established. Funeral service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Boynton funeral home with the Rev. John W. Tennyson officiating and interment in the family lot at Saranac cemetery.
