Jack attended grade school at Jefferson school here then moved to Battle Creek with his mother where he graduated from high school. He served four years in the Air Force and since his return has been employed as an oiler on a tanker out of Port Arthur, Texas. He became ill with pneumonia while on a trip on the tanker and was taken to a hospital in New Orleans where he died September 28. He is survived by his wife, the former Irene Lipp of Elsie; three sons, Charles, David and Roger; his mother, Mrs. Beatrice Grieve of Battle Creek; his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Grieve of St. Johns; three sisters, Mrs. Eleanor Hardy of Beaumont, Texas, Mrs. Betty Ludwa of Battle Creek, Mrs. Barbara Ann Uttinger of New Orleans, La; and one brother, Burnell Grieve of St. Johns, two grandfathers, Charles Cronk of Battle Creek and Wesley Grieve of North State road, several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are in charge of Carter funeral home in Elsie but are incomplete pending arrival of the body from Louisiana.
