The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Friday, August 9, 1918

The sudden death of Helen Grieves caused by a stroke of electricity of the 
storm of the 23rd, was a shock to our community.  Mr. Grieves’ people have 
been residents of our district a few years, having bought the Charles Brown 
farm, and we all extend deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.

The child met instant death when lightning struck the home.  She was a general 
favorite among her schoolmates for her kind and sweet disposition, for which 
she was always be kindly remembered.
