Griffin, 76, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009 at Fred & Lena Meyer Heart Center in Grand Rapids. Jerry was born on July 1, 1933 to Margaret & Francis Griffin in Battle Creek. He graduated from St. Philip High School in Battle Creek, attended Davenport University and graduated from Aquinas College. He worked for the Department of Corrections and worked at Michigan Training Unit, Michigan Reformatory and retired from Riverside Correctional Facility as a Special Activities Coordinator. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Ionia Moose. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending the winters in Panama City Beach, Fla. and spending time at Gregory’s the Moose and watching his favorite channel the game show network. He was a big sports fan and always rooted for the underdog. He is survived by his daughters, Amy (Steve) Caberto, Kelly (Curt) Green and Molly (Scott) Peterson; son, Tom (Miffer) Griffin; grandchildren, Shannon (Andy) Schmid, Megan (fiancé Jacob Abplanalp) Caberto, Maggie (Josh) Wolcott, Brooke Peterson, Ashley, Emily and Griffin Green and Justine Griffin. great-grandchildren, Peyton and Colton Schmid; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sue (Gary) Swinehart, Mike Agostini, Louis (Linda) Agostini and Phil (Dorothy) Agestini and many nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Sally (Agostini) Griffin, brother Tom, parents Margaret and Francis Griffin and his mother-and-father-in-law Fern and Louis Agostini. Services for Jerry will be Wednesday, 11 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church with father Tom Boufford Celebrant. The family will receive friends and relatives Tuesday 4-7 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either SS Peter & Paul Church or SS Peter & Paul School in memory of Jerry Griffin.
