He moved in early childhood with his parents to Sunfield township where they lived a few years then they moved to Sebewa where he lived the most of his life. In January 1917 he moved to Lake Odessa where he departed this life Friday morning October 16, aged 74 years 26 days. In 1864 he was united in marriage to Rhoda Carpenter. to this union were born six children, three in early childhood, preceding him to the better land. He was converted and joined the Sebewa Baptist church in 1868 In 1914 he moved to Portland transferring his membership to the church there, where he remain's a member until his death. He leaves to mourn their loss the widow and three children, John Griffin, Mrs.William Sweitzer and Elton Griffin. He leaves three brothers Henry, Warren and Allen, all of Portland and a sister, Mrs.M.S. Baden of Riverside, California. Aside from these he leaves a large number of relatives and a host of friends. The funeral was held at the residence last Sunday afternoon and was very largely attended by relatives and friends. Rev. John Stewart of the Baptist church of Portland officiated, assisted by Rev. D.D. King of the local Methodist church. Mrs.C.A. Lapo and Mrs. A.H Dann sang accompanied by Mrs.Clare Bishop. Other relatives from out of town were Emerson Ray and wife of Blanchard, D.G. Weipert, wife and daughter, Andrew Sayer, wife and daughter, and Neil Van Houten and wife of Sunfield. Frank friend and wife of Clarksville, J.Darby and wife and Chas Terry and wife of Carlton. Interment was made at Lakeside cemetery. CARD OF THANKS We wish to express our sincere thanks to all who assisted us in our recent bereavement.
