The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, May 30, 1973
A former Saranac resident, Mrs. Irene M. Griffin, 73, of 1254 Lake Drive, 
Grand Rapids, died Tuesday at Kent Community hospital at Grand Rapids.  Born 
in Cicero, Indiana, March 22, 1900, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 
William F. Woodruff.  July 15, 1918 she was married in Indiana to William 
Griffin Jr.  They moved to Grand Rapids in 1949, to Morrison Lake in 1955 and 
to Saranac in 1963.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church of Grand Rapids, attending Saranac 
Community church and was a member of the Congegators of the church.  She was 
preceded in death by a daughter, Lillian.  Surviving besides the husband 
William Sr., are two sons, William W. Jr. of Tampa, Florida and John F. of 
Sparta; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Jane Tameris of Grand Rapids and Mrs. 
Patricia B. Reen of Phoenix, Arizona; 20 grandchildren and seven great 
grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Morris-Roetman funeral home 
in Saranac.  Rev. Raymond Heine of Trinity Lutheran church will officiate and 
interment will be at Saranac cemetery.  A memorial has been established for 
Saranac Community church organ fund and may be left at the funeral home.
