Dick was born in Belding on Nov. 5, 1934, to Leonard and Virginia (Hall) Grimm. He moved to Casnovia at the age of 7 and attended Kent City schools, graduating in 1953. Dick was in the National Guard until he joined the Army in 1955 with the 10th Military Police Co., becoming an expert rifleman in competition and sniper training. On Aug. 14, 1955, he married Connie Grimm in Manton and in October she joined him in Germany. After three years in Germany they settled in Greenville. Dick retired at the age of 51 from Greenville Tool & Die Co. in 1986 after 31 years. He was a lifetime member of the Flat River Conservation Club and a very active worker for almost 50 years and on the board of directors nearly as many years. He was a range master, one of the carrying-a-concealed-weapon (CCW) instructors and organized the pistol league. Dick was a trapper in early years and always an avid fisherman and hunter, his favorite being ice fishing. He also enjoyed camping with his family and going on many fishing trips with friends. He had very special love for his children and grandchildren. Dick is survived by his wife of 53 years, Connie; mother-in-law, Irene McDaniel of Grand Rapids; two sons Dick E. and Veronica, Dan and Lori of Greenville; two daughters, Denise Grimm of Greenville, Dawn and Rog Geers of Sparta; Jason Grimm, Jeremy (Cyndi) Grimm, Rebekah Grimm, Danielle (Lance) Wondergem, Amber (Lance) Nummer, Cory Westbrook, Bradley Ruge; and three-step-grandchildren, Heath Geers, Josh (Nikki) Burns, Rachel Hufford. He really enjoyed his 11 great-grandchildren, Tanner, Keygan, Mackenzie, Coltin, Brooklynne, Megyn, Bow and Jazmyn (twins), CJ, Abby and Paige. He also is survived by his brother, Terry (Sandy) Cobb of Alaska, Mich.; brother-in-law, Dennis (Win) McDaniel of Manton; and two nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his father in 1954; his mother in 1971; and 8-year-old son, Dean, in 1978. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with Rev. Steve Charnley officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday prior to the services at the funeral home.
