Excerpts from the Carson City Gazette, CArson City MI 11/16/1978
Elvert "Rip" Griswold passed awan on November 9, 1978 at Ionia County Memorial 
Hospital.  He was born in Bloomer Township, Montcalm County on November 27, 
1909.  He married Lucille Piper in 1962.  She survives as well as a daughter, 
Bonnie Mangus of Reno, Nevada, a stepdaughter, Nancy Werner of Ionia, 3 step-
sons, Jack and Jerry Piper, both of Ionia and Bill Piper of Sheridan.  He is 
also survived by 3 sisters, Elsie Kendall of Ionia, Esther Cunningham of 
Hubbardston and Eulah Rowley of Eureka.  Mr. Griswold retired from Lyons Trim 
Plant.  Burial in Palo Cemetery.  Funeral arrangements by Stebbins Simpson 
Funeral Home in Sheridan.
