Daily Standard (Pg. 1) - Friday, Aug. 25, 1905

The funeral for Mrs. G.S. Griswold was attended from the home on West Main 
street on Tuesday afternoon. A large company of friends and neighbors attested 
their esteem for the deceased by their presence. Mrs. L.P Brock sung two solos 
and Rev. M.L. Fox spoke of the gain through death for the Christian. Interment 
was in Balcom cemetery.

Mrs. Griswold died on Sunday morning, after a lingering illness, aged 59 years. 
She had been a resident of Ionia city for 15 years and nearly all of her life 
has been spent in Ionia county. She was highly respected by all who knew her. A 
husband and four children survive her.

Mrs. Griswold, whose maiden  name was Amelia A. Simmons, was born in Niagara 
county, New York, May 18, 1846. She came wit her parents to Michigan in 1849, 
settling in Berlin township.

On the fifteenth of June, 1864, she was married to Mr. E.S. Griswold. Five 
children were born to them, and of the four now living all but one, who is in 
Texas, were present when the mother died.

Death came to her as to one who is waiting for a pleasant summons. Faithful in 
life, loving and being loved, she leaves the memory of a wife and mother whose 
husband and children call blessed.

mother gave every proof of sympathy and kindness, and to the Elks and the other 
good friends who sent flowers for the burial, we desire to express our 
heartfelt thanks. They have comforted when comfort was needed.
