Death of Mrs. Groff.

Maria Groff, widow of the late Sidney Groff, died at her home on State street,
at noon to-day, at the age of about 74 years.

Deceased was born in 1818; her maiden name being Maria Tompkins.  She was
married to Sidney Groff in 1837.  The early years of their married life were
spent in Ashtabula county, Ohio, from whence they removed to Ionia in 1865,
where they have since lived.  Mr. Groff died in Dec., 1880.  No children were
ever born to them, but they raised one boy, Henry Waters, of this city, and one
girl, now Mary Tingley, wife of Lemuel Tingley of Woods Corners.

Thus another pioneer has dropped away, and a pure, blameless, Christian life has
gone out from among us.

Funeral at residence on State street, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

[Transcriber's Note:  There is a notation on the obituary card that she was
buried in Oak Hill Cemetery.]
