                                   OBITUARY
John S. Groff was born in Miami county, Ohio, November 9, 1865; he came with his 
parents to Michigan when a small child, locating in Campbell township, Ionia 
county. he was united in marriage to Miss Maggie Bachelder on Dec. 14, 1888 who 
preceded him to the Spirit World Dec. 14, 1889. On March 17, 1896 he was united 
in marriage to Miss Margaret Allerding; to this union were born three children; 
Willie A, Burton A. and Nellie A. He united with the Campbell Brethren church in 
1915, to which he was true and faithful until death claimed its own. Although he 
suffered much for the last two years yet he had a smile for every one he would 
pass. John lived on the homestead until about two years ago when he moved with 
his family to Lake Odessa where  he died on Dec. 1, 1919, age 54 years and 22 
days.

Besides his family he leaves to mourn his departure an aged mother, one brother, 
one sister and a host of relatives and friends who will miss his pleasant smile 
and cheery greetings.

Mrs Chas. Maine and daughter Francis of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Mrs Kate Rogers of 
Detroit, Mich., Mrs Burt Lepard of Grand Rapids, Mrs Emma Klipfer of Alto, Mich. 
and Mr and Mrs Frank Klipfer of Lansing, Mich. attended the funeral.

By this method we desire to express our thanks to our friends and neighbors for 
the flowers, the use of autos, and for other kindness and sympathy shown us 
during the sickness, death and burial of our loving husband and father.
