Born on a farm in Campbell township November 4, 1896, he was the son of John and Margaret Allarding Groff. June 9, 1920, he was married to Bessie Tupper and lived in Lake Odessa the early years of their married life. He was employed by the Standard Oil Company and the Lake Odessa Canning Company. In December of 1943 they moved to Walled Lake. He was employed by the Novi Equipment Company, Dunn Steel Company and Saxon’s company at Plymouth retiring several years ago. He was a veteran of World War I and member of the Lakeside barracks. Besides his wife, Bessie, he leaves a son, Dale of Plymouth; three grandchildren and a brother, Burton Groff of St. Clair. The body is at the Schrader funeral home at Plymouth and will be brought to Lake Odessa to the Pickens-Koops funeral chapel where friends and relatives may call Wednesday afternoon and evening and Thursday morning. Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Lake Odessa funeral chapel. Pastor Frank Smith will officiate and interment will be at the Lakeside cemetery.
