Mr. Grounds died July 4 at the Hastings Hospital where he had been a patient for 11 days. He was born in Lawrence county, Illinois, March 9, 1891, the son of George and Melissa Curry Grounds. He married Alta Lyons who preceded him in death in 1929. In 1931 he married Nira Klise in New York City. He farmed in Iowa from 1933 to 1938 when he came to Belding where he owned and operated a Gambles Store. He later opened a store in Ionia. He retired in 1949 and has lived in Ionia county and Tarpen Springs, Florida, since that time. Mr. Grounds is survived by his wife; one daughter Mrs. Jerry (Dorotha) Frost of Hastings; one son Dr. F. Oral Grounds of Lansing; two sisters, Mrs. Zelma Milke of Tampa, Florida, and Mrs. Ora Dean of Detroit; one brother Howard Grounds of Flint; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
