Lyons Herald, 11 Nov 1920

V. Vern Grove was born in Newton Falls, Ohio, March 25, 1871, and passed to the 
life beyond from his home in Lyons November 4, 1920, aged 49 years, 7 months 
and 9 days.  

When he was about two years his parents came to Lebanon township, Clinton 
county, Michigan, where he spent a large part of his life.  June 24, 1914, he 
was married to Miss Esther Gleason of Hillsdale county, who survives him, 
together with one brother, Dana Grove of Lebanon, and one sister, Mrs. Alma 
Harris of St. Johns, besides a host of friends and relatives.

Mr. Grove had been in poor health for many years and his serious illness proved 
too severe for his failing strength.  He bore his suffering with remarkable 
courage and patience.  He was a man who lived his life just as near right as he 
knew how.  A man of exemplary habits, refined in his manner; a lover of art and 
music, decidedly against all that was coarse and low.  As you saw him one day, 
you would find him every day.  Thus a beautiful life has gone to its reward.

Funeral services were held from the late home Sunday, Nov. 7, being conducted 
by Rev. E.W. Sprague of Detroit.

Relatives present from away were Mrs. C.F. Gillman and children, W.P. Grove and 
family, Roy Grove and family of Grand Rapids; Mrs. F.D. Bond of Detroit; Mrs. 
Minnie Snyder of Carson City; Will Harris and family of St. Johns; B.E. Gleason 
and family of Saginaw; Don Gleason and wife of Albion; Fay Holdredge and wife 
and Clare Gleason of Reading; H. Tinkham and wife of Grand Ledge; O.N. Russell 
and Mrs. T. West of Lansing.
