Ionia Sentinel Standard, 2 Aug 1986

Bernice A. Grove, 83, of 228 Summit Street, Saranac, died Friday at her 
residence.  Born in Saranac May 27, 1903, she was the daughter of Gilbert and 
Hattie Blough Hawley.  She graduated from Ionia High School in 1919 and after 
attending Ionia County Normal taught in rural schools for three years.  Later 
she worked in the office of the Ionia County Drain Commissioner until her 
retirement in 1968.  

She was married to Bliss Grove in Chicago in 1929; he died in 1974.  She was a 
member of the Lyons United Methodist church and of the W.S.C.S. of the church.

Surviving are a son, Willard Grove of St. Paul, Minn.; a daughter, Marilyn 
Dykstra of Jenison; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and a 
sister, Sarah Redemsky of St. Petersburg, Fla.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. from the Hull Memorial Chapel, Muir, 
with the Rev. Bette Dobie of the Lyons United Methodist Church officiating.  
Burial will be in Lyons Cemetery.  Friends may call all day Sunday at the 
funeral chapel.
