Lyons Herald, 27 Nov 1919

Caroline D. Grove passed to spirit life from her late home in Lebanon township 
Wednesday evening, November 19, 1919, aged 79 years, 6 months and 18 days.  She 
was born May 1, 1843, in Newton Falls, Trumbull county, Ohio, being the last 
surviving member of a family of fourteen children.  September 3, 1868, she was 
married to Jonathan Grove and in 1872 came with him to his Michigan home where 
she continued to live until the time of her passing.  Mr. Grove preceded her to 
the land beyond October 2, 1918.

Mrs. Grove was the mother of four children: Rollin Elwood, who died in infancy; 
V. Vern, of Lyons; Dana C., at home and Mrs. Alma Harris, who has lived near 
the old home to help care for her mother.  Four grandchildren, Elwood and 
Bernard Harris, Lynn and Irving Grove, are left to cherish her sweet memory.  
No words can portray the beautiful character of this dear woman.  Her life 
stands out as a great example of all that is good, pure and true.  Her 
affection for her children and that which they gave in return was beautiful.  
Her friends and neighbors all give testimony of her wonderful love and 
kindness, and she passed away firm in the faith of life after death.

Funeral services were held from the late home Saturday, November 22, at 10:30, 
Mrs. Marion Carpenter of Detroit officiating.  Interment was made in East 
Plains cemetery. 

Those from away who attended the funeral were: Roy Grove, Mr. and Mrs. W.P. 
Grove and Mrs. Eva Gilman of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Birdie Bond of Detroit, Mrs. 
Minnie Snyder of Carson City.
