Sentinel-Std. - Thursday, April 11, 1968

I. Roy Grove, 87, of 606 Cyrus, died Thursday at Ionia County Memorial hospital 
where he had been a patient since March 10.

He was born November 18, 1880 in Pewamo, the son of Milo and Clarinda Grove. He 
was married to Myrtle Brown who died in 1950.

While living in Grand Rapids he was a motorman for the street railway then 
moved to Lyons where he lived until 1931 when he moved to Ionia. He was 
employed by Ypsilanti Reed Furniture company and in 1925 became a guard at 
Michigan Reformatory until retirement in 1950. He was a former member of Elks 
lodge.

Surviving are a daughter, Ms. Clare Shafer of Ionia, and one son, Milo Grove of 
Kalamazoo, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren; a brother, Ray of 
Portland, Ore. and a sister, Mrs. Nellie Hillabrandt of Saginaw. 

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 pm at Stone-Kauffman funeral home with 
Rev. Theodore Forbes of First Christian church officiating. Interment will be 
in East Plains cemetery.
