Grummet, 72, Easton township farmer who died Wednesday morning in a farm accident will be conducted at 1:30 Saturday afternoon at Morris funeral home. Mr. Grummet was born October 9, 1892 and is survived by his wife, Mary; five daughters, Mrs. Leora Erb, Mrs. Thelma Rowley, Mrs. Lois Solomon and Mrs. Alice Courter of Saranac, and Ms. Donna Jackson of Hastings; one son, Donald Grummet of Saranac; 29 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, two half-brothers, Rance Stowell of Log Lake and Sam of Ionia, and three half sisters. The Rev. Terence M. Wood of Easton Methodist church will officiate and interment will be at Saranac cemetery. Coroner Dale Kauffman, who investigated the mishap along with Ionia state police, said Grummet's death was due to severe head injuries and asphyxiation by drowning. Troopers Noel Rowe and David Thompson said tracks indicated Grummet had trouble getting his corn picker on the bridge and that he had backed and moved forward twice before the tractor slid off the bridge and fell into the ditch.
