The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, February 10, 1958

Mrs. Elsie Guernsey, 78, of 541 North Jefferson street, Ionia, died at a rest 
home near Trufant Sunday morning.  She was born October 4, 1879 in Gratiot 
county, the daughter of John and Catherine Packer.  She was married January 1, 
1895 to John L. Guernsey.  They moved to Ionia in 1945 from their farm near 
Fenwick, and lived here until April of 1957 when they became patients at the 
rest home.  Mrs. Guernsey was a member of the Lincoln Avenue Baptist church.

Surviving besides her husband John are three daughters, Mrs. Lois Messer of 
West Covina, Calif., Mrs. Ernest Teall and Mrs. Frank Lance of Ionia; a son, 
Dennis of Greenville; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and a 
half-sister, Mrs. Jennie Parks of DeWitt.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Myers funeral home.  
The Rev. Paul Knaak will officiate.  Burial will be in Tuttle cemetery.
