The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, May 8, 1972

Robert A. Guernsey, Sr. 76, of 685 Louisa died early Sunday morning at 
Butterworth hospital in Grand Rapids.  Born in Ionia, February 27, 1898, he 
was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Guernsey.  January 5, 1920 he was married 
to Annie Lehman.  

He was owner of his own trucking company many years and later managed the 
Moore Cole Company in Ionia.  He was a charter member of American Legion and 
veteran of World War I.  He also belonged to SS Peter and Paul Senior Citizens 
group.

Surviving are his wife, Annie; son, Robert A. Guernsey, Jr.; of Lake Odessa; 
two daughters, Mrs. Nadine Shetterly of Hastings, Mrs. Joyce Holland of 
Lansing; 25 grandchildren; two great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Betty 
Anes of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Esther Schafer of Lansing.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Myers-Roetman funeral home.  
Msgr. Edward Jawarosicz will officiate and interment will be at Highland Park 
cemetery.  Graveside services will be under the auspices of the American 
Legion.  Family will be at the funeral home Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 
p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.  SS Peter and Paul Senior Citizens group will have prayer 
service at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
