Guernsey, 52, of Ionia died Monday at the Blodgett Memorial Medical Center, East Grand Rapids. She was born December 3, 1939, in Muskegon, the daughter of Donald and Minnie Yeomans Riker. She married Robert A. Guernsey, in Ionia, on April 3, 1964. She attended Greenville Public Schools and had been employed as a cook at the Ionia Manor for more than 11 years. She was a member of the Ionia Community Choir and of the Royal Neighbors of America. She is survived by her husband; three sons; Steve and Rodney Rutledge of Ionia and Scott Guernsey of Belding; five daughters; Laura Brown and Johanna Patterson of Ionia, Kathy Cleary of Portland, Julie Laughlein of Cascade, and Denise Harrington of Fenwick; 14 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; her brother Charles Riker of Sidney, her sister Phyllis MacPherson of Ionia, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, Ionia with the Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating. The family will be at the Rich St. Chapel on Friday, from 7-8:30 p.m. A memorial has been established for the Fun Forest Playground, in care of the funeral home.
