H. Guernsey died Thursday afternoon, at the home in Easton, four miles north of city. She had been in feeble health for several years, but had been seriously sick only a few days, having been in town as late as last Saturday. She was born in Vermont and would have been 66 years old next birthday. Her maiden name as Angie Dolphin, and she was married to Mr. Guernsey February 17, 1867. The husband and three children survive: Mrs. William Tully of Ionia township, William of this city and Jesse of Portland. The funeral of Mrs. A. H. Guernsey, at the Baptist church Sunday afternoon, was largely attended by old time neighbors and friends. Wm. H. Borden post and W. R. C. were also out with ranks unusually well filled. The service was by Rev. E. E. Branch, who spoke of the dignity of motherhood, and the reverence due good mothers, of the necessity of meeting all the trials of life with courage, in full faith of the care of a Divine Father. The music was my Misses Dorothea E. Foess and Lucy Cull, with Miss Ethel Crispin as organist. The closing service, according to the ritual of the W. R. C. was impressively presented under the direction of the president Mrs. James Storey. The bearers were E. S. Shattuck, R. Carpenter, J. H. Laden, W. T. Normington, T. G. Stevenson and J. C. Taylor.
