Phyllis was born January 18, 1927 in Orleans, to Lester J. and Georgia Glenyce Bowlus Hulbert. She was raised in the Orleans area and attended local country schools graduating from Ionia High School Class of 1943 when she was 16. Upon graduation, she started her lifelong career working in the banking industry servicing loans. She was dedicated to First Security, Ionia County National, and First of America (now National City) for over 30 years. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary post 4090, the NABW, a long time and very active member of the 4-H. She loved many things crossword puzzles, sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening, oil painting, but especially spending time with her family. She was a loving mother and will be greatly missed by friends and family. Phyllis is survived by three daughters Kathy L. Guernsey (Grand Ledge), Julie Laughlin (Grand Ledge), Denise K. Harrington (Crystal), one son Scott E. Guernsey (Grand Ledge), six grandchildren Michael (Connie), Michelle (Steve Wheeler), Benjamin (Stephanie), Joshua, Nick, Nate, eight great grandchildren, one sister Winona Beckhorn, special niece Carol Palmer and nephew Larry (Roma Dean) Hartman. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services are Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006 11 a.m. at Huffman-Brigham Funeral Chapel in Belding Michigan with Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday Nov. 1, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Ionia.
