                            Muriel Guest

Muriel (nee Smith) Guest passed away on June 11, 2010, at the age of 84. She was 
born on Jan. 30 1926, and was raised along with her sister, Caroline, in Ionia, 
Michigan by her parents, the former principal of Ionia High School, Lloyd 
T.Smith and Ruth (nee Burnett) Smith.

She graduated from Ionia High School in 1943 and from Michigan State university 
in 1947.She met Percy Wayne Guest II at Michigan State and the two were married 
in 1949. She taught history and Social Studies at Pontiac High School for 
several years and alter worked part-time s a substitute teacher and then as a 
library aid while she raised her children, Percy, Martha, Gretchen and Connie.

Muriel was always a voracious reader and had a powerful command of the English 
language which she frequently put to good use in doing crossword puzzles. She 
loved music, fine food, bird watching, and the water and she passed on those 
loves to her children.

Muriel was preceded in death by her husband, Percy, and her son, Percy, her 
sister, Caroline (nee Smith) Mowatt, and her niece, Susan (nee Mowatt) Burdo.

She is survived by her daughters, Martha, Connie and Gretchen (nee Guest) Alessi 
(Vince) and her grand-children Matt and Nick, as well as nephews John and Brad 
Mowatt and several great nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Muriel's memory to Ionia Public 
Schools Scholarship Endowment Fund.
