Danby Woman Dies Tuesday

Funeral Held At Son’s Home Monday For Mrs. Clara Guilford.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. 
Chauncey Guilford in Danby for Mrs. Clara Guilford, 82, who died at the home of 
her son Friday evening following an illness of several weeks.  Interment was 
made in Danby cemetery.  Rev. John H. Stewart officiated.

Mrs. Guilford was one of Danby’s most loved residents.  She was born at 
Snydertown, Pa., and came to Michigan with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac 
Boughner, in 1864.  She was united in marriage to Dennis J. Guilford in 1876.  
Mr. Guilford died 22 years ago.

She was a member of the Portland congregational church, a member of the Order 
of Eastern Star and of the Danby grange of which she had held the office of 
treasurer for many years.

Surviving are the son, Chauncey, a grandson, Harold and a great-granddaughter, 
Roberta Guilford.

Bearers at the funeral were Milo Smith, Hugh Wellfare, Glenn Boughner and Guy 
Peake.
