Gunn, for the last forty years or more a resident of Sebewa, died at his home on Tuesday morning, after an illness that began first about a year ago. Although not very well at any time until near his death, the end being hastened no doubt by the shock that he met with on the 7th of February, when his house burned, and as he was at home alone and worked hard to try and save some of its contents, and was very much exposed to the bad weather of that day, from that time he grew worse until the end. The funeral was held from the Sebewa Center Church yesterday, Thursday, and was conducted by Rev. Hayward, of Sunfield, and his remains were interred in the Collingham cemetery in Sebewa township. Mr. Gunn was born in New Jersey, 77 years ago the 21st day of last February. When quite a young lad his parents moved to Pennsylvania, and there he lived for many years and was married to Miss Caroline McCoy, living there for a number of years afterward, when they moved to this state, settling in Livingston county. They only lived there a couple of years when they came to Sebewa township, Mr. Gunn buying a big farm at that time, and which he afterwards cleared up, and made one of the valuable lands of that section. Other acres were added to this farm from time to time until he possessed quite a property, but only retained 40 acres of this at his death, the rest all being divided among his children as they grew up and became ready to hustle for themselves. The 40 acres on which he lived at the time of his death also being occupied by his son, Joshua Gunn, with whom he has made his home since the death of his good wife about 15 years ago. To Mr. and Mrs. Gunn were born 7 children. Two of these, a boy and a girl, have preceded the father and mother to the spirit world, the remaining five being Theodore, who lived in Antrim county, this state; Deamus Gunn, living in Indian Territory; John Gunn, of Oklahoma; Mrs. Isaac Cunningham, of near Hastings, and Joshua Gunn, of Sebewa. Mr. Gunn was possessed of a large circle of friends, all of whom have held him in the highest esteem, and he was considered a good, substantial farmer of the township in which he has lived for so many years.
