B. Gunn died on Wednesday night May 25th, at his farm home in Easton township, after a long illness of more than eight months. Only three days before his death he and his family thought he was improving, and had strong hopes of his recovery. He was 83 years of age. Mr. Gunn was born in Geneva, New York, August 31, 1821, and lived there until a young man. He came to Michigan and settled in Grand Rapids in 1846, where he resided the most of the time until 1868, when he moved to Easton, Ionia County, where he spent the remainder of his life. In 1842 he married Oliver D. Ellis of Aurillius, Cayuga county, New York, who survives him. Mr. Gunn was a fine example of industry, determination and integrity, and one of the most systematic and prosperous farmers in Easton township. He was a charter member of Keene Grange, and a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for many years. Mr. Gunn leaves a widow and three children: Mrs. Laura A. Garrett of Fort Collins, Colorado, Mrs. C. M. Linington of Chicago; and Albert E. Gunn of Shelby, Mich. He also leaves two brothers and one sister: W. S. Gunn of Grand Rapids: Schuyler Gunn and Mrs. Emeline White of Chicago. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. M. Johnson of Saranac, at the home, on Saturday, May 28th at two o’clock. The large number of friends in attendance and the beautiful floral pieces showed the respect and appreciation which his life had inspired. The bearers were Messrs. Hiram Brown, Thomas Thomas, Samuel Pike, Wilbur Curtis, Harvey Russ and George Renwick. Interment was in Easton cemetery. The relatives present were: Mr. and Mrs. Albert E. Gunn of Shelby, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Linington, Chas. M. Linington, Jr., and Schuyler Gunn, of Chicago; W. S. Gunn and Will A. Gunn of Grand Rapids, Mich., Elmer Ellis and Adolphus Ellis of Ionia, Mich.; Mrs. Percival Leadley and Mrs. Frank Land of Toronto, Canada. Card of Thanks: I wish to extend my sincere thanks to my friends and neighbors for the many words and acts of kindness and sympathy during the sickness, death and funeral of my dear husband. Mrs. I.
