An Early Settler of Sebewa Township Shows Symptoms of Paralysis in Church – Carried to Her Home Close at Hand, where She Passed Away Last Thursday. The scenes attending the death of Mrs. Joshua Gunn, at Sebewa, last week, were tragic in the extreme. Revival meetings have been conducted by Rev. N.E. Gibbs at the Center church with splendid success, and Sunday evening a special service was held for parents who had unconverted children. The worshippers gathered around the altar and Rev. Gibbs offered a fervent prayer. At the close Mrs. Gunn walked back to her seat and those who were near her saw she was ill. She whispered that there was a numbness in her side and she was carried from the little church to her home, a few rods distant. Dr. Alton, of Portland, found she had suffered a paralytic stroke and little hope was held out from the start. Mrs. Gunn lingered until Wednesday, when she passed away, having been conscious most of the time. She was born in 1840 and was one of the early settlers of the township. Funeral services were held at the church Friday at 11 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Gibbs. Interment in Baptist cemetery, near her late residence.
