The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Friday, April 25, 1919

Locena F. Nead was born June 12, 1835, and died April 9, 1919.  She was born 
in Seneca county, Ohio, and came to Michigan with her parents at the age of 
five years.  She was united in marriage to John A. Durkee of Woodland, 
Michigan, and they came to Berlin 50 years ago.  Mr. Durkee died in 1893.  In 
1904 she came to South Ionia and resided there until her death.  In 1905 she 
was united in marriage with Hugh Guthrie and he died in 1913.  She was a good 
and kind mother and grandmother and leaves two children, five grandchildren 
and two great grandchildren to mourn her loss.
