Wave, Thurs. July 9, 1953 Richard Guy, 32, Fatally Injured Richard Guy, 32, Barry county farmer was fatally injured Tuesday afternoon when he was pinned under his tractor as it was being towed to the repair shop. Sheriff Leon Doster of Hastings reported Guy was steering the tractor and his wife was towing it with the car when the tractor pulled to the side of the narrow road near the Woodland cemetery to permit the Woodland school bus to pass. After the bus had passed, Mrs. Guy stated, the tractor slipped as it started and overturned in the ditch. The school bus driver Dan Brown and older buys on the bus managed to pull Mr. Guy from under the tractor but he was pronounced dead when the physician arrived to attend him. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Long, his mother, Mrs. Daisy Guy of Woodland; two sisters, Mrs. Iris Blocher and Mrs. Geraldine Bever of Hastings; four brothers, Ralph of Woodland, Paul of Nashville, Jack of Vermontville and Linden with the army in Austria. Mr. Guy reposes at the Wing and Pickens Funeral home in Woodland until Friday at 10 when the body will be brought to the Pickens chapel here where services will be held at 3 Friday with Rev. Harley Townsend of Woodland officiating. Burial is in the Woodland Memorial cemetery. His mother, Mrs. Daisy Guy is employed in the cafeteria of the local school.
