Haas, 81, of 1221 First, died Sunday at Osteopathic hospital at Grand Rapids where she had been a patient one week. She had been in ill health several years. Born in Orange township August 29, 1894, she was the daughter of William and Achsah Thomas Courtnay. September 3, 1912 she was married to William Haas in Ionia and they moved to Lake Odessa in 1937, from the Portland area. She had been employed as clerk in several Lake Odessa business places working last at the Elfstrom store before retiring 18 years ago due to ill health. She had been a member of the Jolly Dozen of Lake Odessa, Mary Social club, Blue Star Mothers, and the Lake Odessa Rebekah lodge until she was unable to attend because of ill health. Her husband died October 1, 1968. Among her survivors are two sons, Gaylen W. of Lake Odessa, Bernard G. of Redondo Beach, Calif., and a daughter, Mrs. Achsah Blochowiak of Lake Odessa; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Pickens-Koops funeral chapel at Lake Odessa. Rev. Randall Metz will officiate and interment will be at the Lakeside cemetery.
