Haas, 78, of 1221 First Street, Lake Odessa, Passed away Tuesday morning at Pennock Hospital, Hastings, where he had been admitted a few hours earlier. He had been in poor health for several years. Mr. Haas was born August 30, 1890, in Dwight, Ill., the don of George and Mary (Biehler) Haas. He came to Michigan with his parents and settled in Orange Township of Ionia County in 1910. He was married to Violet C. Courtnay on September 3, 1912, and had spent his life as a farmer. They moved to Lake Odessa in 1937 where he was employed at the Lake Odessa Canning Co. prior to retirement due to his health. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Woodland. Survivors include his wife, Violet C; two sons, Gaylen of Lake Odessa and Bernard of Redondo Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Achsah) Blochowiak of Lake Odessa; three grandchildren, three great - grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Lena McIntyre of Portland. Mr. Haas reposes at the Pickens Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa where services will be held on Friday, October 4, at 1:30 p.m.. Rev. Einar Unseth will officiate, with burial at Lakeside Cemetery.
