He will be missed by his loving family, including his wife,Marilyn Hay Habecker, daughter Kelsea Habecker (and husband Chris Salerno);son, Benjamin Habecker (and wife Stacie Lordan) and his daughter, Bari Alexander (and husband Steven) as well as grandchildren, Paris and Kiaa Alexander. He was the son of Frances Brubaker Habecker and Walter Habecker and is survived by brothers, Eugene,Harold and Melvin Habecker, and sister, LoisAnn Pfister. Marlin exuded joy and generosity.He smiled and laughed readily and could make friends with anyone.He thrived in community and found great joy in gathering with those he loved. His love of and devotion to family and friends was the central feature of his life, second only to his faith and trust in God. Marlin had the gift of hospitality and loved nothin more than hosting events for his community and preparing elaborate meals to feed crowds of friends and family. Marlin attended word of Life Bible Institute and Lansing Community.He owned several of his businesses in construction, sound-engineering, and craft production, and was a long-time district sales associate for Shivvers Mfg,of Corydon, IA. He was instrumental in initiating and organizing many community-based programs in Lake ODessa,MI, where he and Marilyn raised their family. After moving to East Peoria,IL, he became very involved in the community for Grace Memmonite Church. When he and Marilyn moved to Harvest,Al in their retirement he began playing the accordion at his local church. Having learned to play the accordion during his youth, he always loved opportunities to play it for others. He was a skilled hunter throughout his life, and was an accomplished carpenter and builder, and was a masterful chef. Most importantly, he was beloved and is dearly missed. The family would like to thank all who have expressed love, encouragement and support during out time of grief following the loss of our adored Father, Husband, and Grandfather. A memorial service will be held for Marlin in Lake Odessa,MI on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 12 p.. The service will be in the pavilion at the village Park in Lake Odessa, where Marlin helped to organize many concerts and events.
