Haberstumpf, 85, died unexpectedly at his home, 468 King street, Friday at 3:45 p.m. A resident of Ionia the past 68 years, Mr. Haberstumpf was born October 12, 1874 in Wheeling, W. Va. He was married in Ionia in September 1894 to Louise K. Wachter who preceded him in death November 17, 1957. In his early life Mr. Haberstumpf was employed at the old foundry, and for many years at Ypsilanti Reed Furniture company. He had been employed 15 years at Michigan Reformatory when he retired in 1945. He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Earl Cole of Grand Rapids; one son, Alfred Haberstumpf of Detroit; one granddaughter, Mrs. Inez Cesar; and three great-grandchildren of Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, William Haberstumpf of Ionia; and one sister, Mrs. Whitney Godfrey of Benton Harbor. Funeral service will be held at the Boynton funeral home Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Theodore Timler, pastor of St. Johns Lutheran church, officiating. Interment will be in the family lot at Oak Hill cemetery.
