Hackett, Old Resident, Died Today. Was for Many Years Prominent Among Orange Township Farmers; Resided in City in Late Years. Bernard Hackett, one of the pioneer residents of Ionia county, passed away quite suddenly at his home on Harter street at an early hour this morning. Mr. Hackett had been in poor health for several years, but his death came as a great shock to his relatives. Mr. Hackett had been out of doors Monday, and was up and around the house yesterday. Mr. Hackett came with his parents from Ireland when he was two and a half years old. He was one of the prominent farmers of Orange township for many years, later moving to the Harter street home. Mr. Hackett was at the time of death about 85 years of age. Mrs. Hackett passed away about seven years ago. Mr. Hackett is survived by three sons, George Hackett, of Ionia; Fred Hackett, of Grand Rapids, and James Hackett, who lives south of the city. He is also survived by several grandchildren.
