He is survived by his father, one sister, Mrs. G. Ulrich of North Ionia, and four brothers: Arthur, Louis and Gustave of Odessa, and a brother, Fred, who could not be located. His mother died when Emil was only three years old. He has always been a loving and faithful helpmate to his father, who is past seventy-three years old. The bearers were Ellwood Peacock, Joseph Schnabel, Vernon Majinski and Frank O’Mara. He was 26 years, 8 months, 17 days old. He was drafted, and went to Camp Custer eight weeks ago; was sent to Little Rock, Ark., December 15th, and on December 25th was stricken with pneumonia and departed this life on January 25, 1918. The body arrived in Lake Odessa on Tuesday evening. His brothers Arthur and Gustave arrived in Arkansas two hours before his death, but he had been unconscious for a considerable length of time. Gone, a faithful and loving young son. The funeral was very largely attended at Lake Odessa on Thursday at 1:00 o’clock. There were many pieces of floral offerings to show the respect for the young man. Burial will take place some time in the spring.
