He was born January 28, 1889 in Odessa township, the son of Martin and Melia Hackett and attended Carr schools in Odessa township. Mr. Hackett farmed most of his life and after leaving farming worked for the Rumisek chair factory in Ionia and plowed gardens in Ionia for many years. Survivors include Mrs. Emma Abbey of Ionia; Mrs. Francis (Louise) Hoorn of Muskegon; Mrs. Dwight (Matilda) Swiger of Lake; three nephews, Karl Uhlich of Saranac; Herman Uhlich of Englewood, California and John Uhlich of Ann Arbor. Services are Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Leddick funeral home with Rev. Leo Kostizen of St. John Lutheran school officiating. Burial is in Highland Park cemetery.
