Hackett, 51, of North Depot street died Saturday, March 24, at 1 a.m. at the Ionia County Memorial hospital after being a patient for less than a day. He was stricken at his room in the Plaza hotel early Friday morning and was removed to the hospital. He was born in Berlin township April 29, 1809, the son of George and Blanche Hackett and lived in Ionia county all his life. He attended Ionia high school. He was associated with his father in an implement business for many years. He had been a salesman for the Ypsilanti Reed Furniture company and a clerk in Lampkin's clothing store. During the past four years, he has been employed by Grounds Implement company and the Craft Motor sales. He was a member of the Ionia Elks lodge. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Bernice Lampkin, of Ionia and two nieces, Mrs. Jack Lalley of Ionia and Miss Kay Hackett Boyd of California. Services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Boynton funeral home with Dr. Paul Stewart officiating. Interment will be in Highland Park cemetery.
