He told Lloyd Underwood, who came to his assistance, that he was very sick and Mr. Underwood laid him down on the walk and called to Dr. Stanton who happened to be on the street near by. The doctor immediately saw there was no help for the unfortunate man, as the stroke was a severe one, and he died within a very few minutes. He was taken to his home on Broas street and his wife, who was working at the Belrockton, notified. Mrs. Stahl, a neighbor, met her on the way home and imparted the news of his death. The deceased was 68 years old, was an old soldier and moved here from Greenville about two or three years ago with two daughters who worked in the silk mills. He told his wife some time ago that if anything happened to him causing death he wanted the soldiers to bury him, and the funeral was held today in the G.A. R. hall. The remains were taken to Greenville for interment.
