She was born January 7, 1874, in Neustadt, Germany, and came to the United States at the age of eleven. She lived in Berlin township for some years and later moved to Ionia where she worked as housekeeper for several prominent Ionia families. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran church. Miss Hafner is survived by nephews, John Stencel Jr., of Easton, Herman and Clarence Hafner of Ionia and John and Ted Hafner of Lansing; one niece, Mrs. Herman Stanke of Flint; one brother-in-law, John Stencel Sr., of Easton. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10 o’clock at Myers funeral home with the Rev. Paul Gutknecht of Belding officiating. Interment will be at the Saranac cemetery.
