Herman H. Hafner, 67, of Saranac, died Saturday July 15, 1995 at Ionia County
Memorial Hospital.  He was born Dec. 6, 1927 to Herman C. and Frieda (Scholtz)
Hafner, of Ionia.  He worked at the Ypsilanti-Reed Co. in Ionia as an elevator
operator for over 20 years, and worked for the Ionia County Road Commission for
17 years.  He was an avid train collector.

He is survived by four daughters: Kristine (Wayne) Carson, of Alto, Kim (Gordon)
VanderHeide, of Grand Rapids, Kelli Hafner, of Grand Rapids, Karen (Mike)
Roskamp, of Germany; one brother Albert (Yvonne) Hafner of East Lansing, sister
Pauline Brindle, of Ionia, and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home in
Saranac, with Chaplain Walter Horton officiating.  Interment will be at Balcom
Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday from 2 p.m.
to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Anyone wishing may make contributions to
the arthritis foundation or the charity of their choice.
